Classified as a Castile soap (as it is a hard soap made from olive oil), Aleppo soap stands out because of the inclusion of laurel oil.
Origin unknown, it is a traditional Syrian recipe made over a three day period using hot process methods. Boiled for days until thick, then adding laurel berry oil once thick.
Modern day recipes have allowed us to make this soap using both cold and hot process methods. Using just two oils, olive and laurel berry, this version is created cold process.
No color or scent was added to this batch, you are seeing and smelling the beautiful unique properties of laurel oil. Deeply green and quite viscous needing to be warmed before being able to be poured... laurel berry oil has a very strong natural aroma. Smoky and very similar to juniper berry, this absolutely has become a favorite here at Little Cabin Soaps.
For those of you who prefer unscented soap but miss the aroma from a scented bar, give this one a try. It just might become your new favorite!
