Cypress Bayberry
Smells like: The moon sending down her first pale ribbons across the horizon.
Cool woody notes of cypress, pine, bayberry, fir and balsam with a dry down of forest and moss.
Feels like: The fireplace warms the small cabin...soft curls of smoke rise from the chimney as snow gently falls.
Silky smooth on the skin. This is a rock solid bar of soap!
Made with: Just three oils, coconut, shorea (also known as Illipe butter) and bayberry wax.
Bayberry wax, a bucket list item for yours truly - it was a beast to work with! Bayberry wax comes from the fruit of the plant, Myrica Cerifera. It's the unrefined version of laurel wax (you may remember Laurel Berry soap) with a soft natural scent that comes through saponification beautifully, creating a scented soap without a drop of fragrance being added. Bayberry, a vegan alternative to beeswax, however historically it was used for candlemaking. The natural scent perfumed the air when candles were a mainstay in homes for lighting, alongside beeswax these two hard "oils" are a handful to work with, and well worth it.
