Fella

Smells like: Fella Cakes (his nickname) skip skip skipping through the herb garden.
Notes of rosemary, herbal juniper, sweet spearmint, bright lemongrass and robust peppermint. If you love herbal, lemon-y fresh, minty smelling things this bar is for you! 
Made with: Fine sea salt, locally grown sage leaves, rich shea butter and coconut oil. A fantastic facial bar.
 
Lovingly created in memory of Fella...my kindred spirit dog. He was fiercely loyal, always by my side, serious to a fault. He was nicknamed my little sentry. Soulmate dogs are once in a lifetime, but I am blessed to have had two and Fella was the first. He was quiet, reserved, serious and always on guard. Never unkind or snarky but always watching. I loved him fiercely, when he died I grieved fiercely.
     
He loved walking through the rosemary and herbs in the garden, it was probably the only silly thing he ever did. He'd come inside smelling like a bundle of fresh herbs, I'd laugh knowing exactly where he'd been outside. This soap is created with his garden strolls in mind: fresh, herbal, light, a hint of sweet. All the good things that grow in the garden are tucked lovingly into this In Memory Of soap. I cannot smell rosemary or mint without thinking of him, enough time has passed that now I can smile and not tear up when that moment happens.
 
A fierce love was never stronger than how I felt about him. When I make the batch, it's quiet and reflective. I don't play music, there isn't silly. Maybe someday but for now it's a somber time and I can connect and remember. The feeling when we pressed our foreheads together was a tangible feeling. The reason In Memory Of batches are my favorite to do is just that---grief involves great tangible loss. When I create something to be held in the hand, bathed and immersed in, I find that void is somehow less. Gently, softly, quietly...  somehow holding something in your hand when who you want to hug isn't there anymore helps. I hope this bar feels like a hug wrapped lovingly around you.
